Physic garden at Springvale

What we would like to do...

Taken ownership of the Springvale site, the former home of Springvale rainbow nursery and of the nature area on the other side of the river.

Developed a physic garden, with a range of medicinal plants

Provided space for a small group of community gardeners

Improved accessibility and installed picnic tables  in the nature area (access from Don Street)

What we have done so far...

Text Box: Our current plans are to
Develop the nursery area into a community growing project that encourages and enables local people to grow local food both at Springvale and in their own garden. This would include a growing spaces for rent, a dedicated project officer to provide inspiration and guidance, training courses, tool library, and demonstration sites to show what can be grown.
Provide some space for commercial or social enterprise use.
Develop an environmental friendly centre, possibly a straw bale build. This would provide office accommodation, training rooms and potentially a shop or café.
Funding is currently being sought for the local food project.
We are developing a group of local people who are interested in promoting local foods, let us know if you would like to join. We are keen to here from anyone interested in using the site for commercial or social enterprise purposes.
We welcome other ideas for the either site at Springvale
