June 2005—Visitor Information Service established, every Thursday Morning in St John’s Church

¨ Visitor information available alongside the church run Coffee Morning

¨ In 2008 expanded to two days a week; Thursday and Saturday

¨ Expanded to venues in Thurlstone, Silkstone Common and Cawthorne

¨ Provides support to local events, e.g. Art at the Altar and Heritage Weekend

 

A range of visitor leaflets produced

¨ 20, 000 copies of the Penistone Explorers Guide

¨ Days out from Penistone

¨ Historic  Churches

¨ Industrial Heritage

 

Developed Visit Penistone Website (in conjunction with Tourism Focus Group and Tourism volunteers
